President Nan Bak has announced this year’s winners of Lord’s Taverners ACT Disability Awards.  The winners were:

  • Indygo Prebble – athletics. At the Australian Athletics Championships, Indygo won three gold medals in the Under 20’s division for Javelin, Discus and Shot Put and another gold medal in the Open Women’s Javelin.
  • Bradley Burns – wheelchair rugby and basketball. Bradley was selected in the NSW Rugby team to play at the National Championships. He was selected as captain for the City vs Country. He travels to Sydney every weekend to train for Rugby and to play Basketball.
  • Amalie Leslie – athletics and snow skiing. At the Australian Open Championship, Amalie competed in 100 and 200 metres sprint races and won a bronze medal in the Long Jump. She was also selected to compete in the National Skiing Championship.
  • Maddie Janssen – basketball. Maddie represented the ACT at the Ivor Burge Championships where the team won a bronze medal.  Maddie was also the youngest member to be selected to play for the Australian Pearls at the World Championships held in France.
  • Pia Tynan – dance, netball, gymnastics, circus. Pia competes as a team member of the Marie Shield in netball. She also continues to train and compete in her favourite sports and activities.
