25 October 2020 –

Bookings are now open for the 2020 Lord’s Taverners ACT Winemakers Dinner.

The guest winemaker at this year’s event, which will take place on Thursday, 19 November at the Commonwealth Club in Yarralumla, will be Darren De Bortoli of De Bortoli Wines.

A three-course meal will be served to guests seated at tables (hors d’oeuvres and then entrée, main course and cheese) accompanied by the following wine, with each wine to be introduced by Darren:

  • Veuve Fourny NV Blanc de Blancs Brut Vertus Premier Cru;
  • Este Pinot Noir Chardonnay Sparkling 2008;
  • Shelley’s Block Marsanne Viognier Roussanne 2019;
  • Villages Chardonnay 2018;
  • The Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir 2019;
  • Woodfired Shiraz 2018;
  • Noble One Botrytis Semillon 2017; and
  • Black Noble NV.

Since Vittorio De Bortoli – Darren’s grandfather – travelled from Castelcucco to NSW in 1924, De Bortoli Wines has grown to become one of the largest and most successful wine businesses in Australia. Darren is the creator of the De Bortoli signature “Noble One” dessert wine.

To maximise safety, the event will be staged in line with ACT Health coronavirus pandemic restrictions and given these restrictions, it is advisable to arrive a few minutes earlier than the official starting time.

A raffle will be held and everyone who attends will go into the draw for a door prize.

The dinner will raise funds for the Lord’s Taverners Awards for Young Athletes with a Disability.
