The Lord’s Taverners ACT has lost two of our more cherished members in recent weeks, Mary Harrigan and Steve Doszpot MLA.
Until recently, Mary (pictured right) was an enthusiastic committee member of the Lord’s Taverners ACT and one of her enduring legacies was our annual barbecue slot at Bunnings. She was a kind and considerate person who was an example to everyone who came in contact with her.
Mary’s determination in the face of illness was amazing. Even as she became incapacitated, she continued to contribute to the Lord’s Taverners. Her strength was mirrored by that of the Harrigan family.
Mary’s funeral will be held tomorrow (Thursday, 4 January).
Steve was one of our members for many years and supported our events by attending whenever his duties in the ACT Legislative Assembly – as well as the many other community organisations he supported – allowed. He also showed great courage in the face of his terminal illness.
Steve was farewelled at a State Funeral on 1 December.
We would like to acknowledge the great contributions both Mary and Steve made to the Lord’s Taverners ACT. Our thoughts and prayers are with their families.
