Former Prime Minister, Hon John Howard OM AC will provide the keynote address at the event, which will be held on the evening of Tuesday, 14 February 2017 in the Bradman Room at Manuka Oval.

As per tradition, the Lord’s Taverners ACT PM’s XI Dinner will be held on the evening before the next PM’s XI match (a T20 fixture against Sri Lanka).

Tickets for the dinner only or tickets to the dinner, plus a premium seat at the PM’s XI match the following evening are on sale now. Anyone can attend – you don’t have to be a member of the Lord’s Taverners.

As you may be aware, Mr Howard was Australia’s 25th Prime Minister, serving from March 1996 until December 2007. Mr Howard is Australia’s second-longest serving Prime Minister.

Apart from his achievements in office, Mr Howard was well known for his passion for sport and, in particular, for cricket. Mr Howard was born into a family that loved cricket. As Prime Minister, he attended Australia’s international matches whenever he could and took a close interest in the Prime Minister’s XI matches which were played at Manuka Oval during his term.

At our event, Mr Howard will speak about the importance of cricket in his life, about the great changes he has seen in the game and where he thinks it will be in 20 years’ time, and will reflect on PM’s XI matches during his time in the top job.
