14 July 2019

Almost 80 guests were treated to a fine offering of food and wine at the 2019 Lord’s Taverners ACT Degustation and Winemakers Dinner.

This constituted a full house, which represented a significant increase in the level of interest in the dinner in comparison to the past two years.

The regular venue for the dinner, Royal Canberra Golf Club, again provided an excellent setting, with the club’s Executive Chef delivering five outstanding courses.

Each course was accompanied by specially matched wine from this year’s feature winemaker, which was Gallagher Wines at Jeir (near Murrumbateman, between Canberra and Yass).

Gallagher’s Owner/Manager/Chief Winemaker, Greg Gallagher was in attendance to speak about the wine and his passion for winemaking.

Some of Gallagher’s best wine was available for sale to guests at discounted prices, with part proceeds from the sales going towards the support the Lord’s Taverners ACT provides to local young and disadvantaged athletes.

The winners of major prizes on the night were:

  • Mr Michael Crane – raffle (six exclusive bottles courtesy of Gallagher Wines and a pair of Riedel glasses); and
  • Ms Kerrie Basman – lucky door prize ($500 gift voucher from Fox Antiques).

The Lord’s Taverners ACT would like to thank everyone who attended the 16 May event, as well as the other supporters of the dinner – Gallagher Wines, Fox Antiques and Royal Canberra Golf Club.
