On 15 May, more than 50 members and friends gathered at the Hotel Queanbeyan to share a casual luncheon and hear from guest speaker Narelle O’Rourke OAM. Narelle, is an historian and author, and has been a registered nurse for almost 60 years. She shared stories from two of her books, both of which had connections to the Queanbeyan/Canberra district, and bought along a display of related photos and memorabilia. Her presentation generated considerable interest, and many of the guests stayed on to talk with her and purchase books. We are very grateful to Narelle for her contribution, and to Christopher O’Rourke and Mathew Griffin from the Queanbeyan Hotel for their generous support. All proceeds contribute to giving the young and disadvantaged a sporting chance.
