Sri Lanka legend to speak at Canberra Test Match Breakfast

9 January 2019

It’s just over three weeks until the inaugural Canberra Test Match – between Australia and Sri Lanka – at Manuka Oval and a new speaker has been confirmed for the inaugural Canberra Test Match Breakfast, which is taking place on the morning of day one of the historic match.

Sri Lanka and world cricket legend Kumar Sangakkara is joining fellow retired stars Mike Hussey and Belinda Clark AO to make up the group which will be part of the formalities at the major charity event, which is being convened by the Lord’s Taverners ACT in partnership with Cricket ACT. The trio will be interviewed by well-known local sports broadcaster Phil Lynch.

The Chief Minister of the ACT, Mr Andrew Barr MLA, is also scheduled to attend.

The breakfast is taking place from 7.15am for 7.30am-9am on Friday, 1 February at the Hotel Realm, enabling those attending the event to walk to the ground in time to see the first ball of the match (although you are free to attend the breakfast and not go on to the match, if that is your preference).

You don’t have to be a member of either the Lord’s Taverners ACT or Cricket ACT to attend the charity breakfast – the general public can purchase tickets (and/or a table). Tickets include a full breakfast, including beverages.

If you would like to purchase a ticket, tickets or a table, you can do this by clicking here. Or, to pay using other methods, please download a booking form by clicking here (and follow the instructions on the form).

Funds raised at the Canberra Test Match Breakfast will go towards the work carried out by the Lord’s Taverners ACT supporting local young and disadvantaged cricketers and other athletes, and the continued development of local cricket in Canberra.
